    Retail Gross sales “Unchanged” in April

    On a month-to-month foundation, retail gross sales had been “virtually unchanged” from March to April (seasonally adjusted), and gross sales had been up 3.0 p.c from April 2023.

    From the Census Bureau report:

    Advance estimates of U.S. retail and meals companies gross sales for April 2024, adjusted for seasonal variation and vacation and trading-day variations, however not for value adjustments, had been $705.2 billion, just about unchanged from the earlier month, however up 3.0 p.c above April 2023. … The February 2024 to March 2024 p.c change was revised from up 0.7 p.c to up 0.6 p.c (±0.1 p.c).
