    Heavy Truck Gross sales Elevated 5% YoY in January

    This graph reveals heavy truck gross sales since 1967 utilizing information from the BEA. The dashed line is the January 2025 seasonally adjusted annual gross sales charge (SAAR) of 534 thousand.

    Heavy truck gross sales actually collapsed in the course of the nice recession, falling to a low of 180 thousand SAAR in Could 2009.  Then heavy truck gross sales elevated to a brand new report excessive of 570 thousand SAAR in April 2019.

    Heavy truck gross sales declined sharply initially of the pandemic, falling to a low of 288 thousand SAAR in Could 2020.  

    Heavy truck gross sales have been at 534 thousand SAAR in January, up from 454 thousand in December, and up 4.6% from 510 thousand SAAR in January 2025.  

    Normally, heavy truck gross sales decline sharply previous to a recession.  Presently heavy truck gross sales are strong.

    Vehicle SalesThe second graph reveals mild car gross sales because the BEA began conserving information in 1967.  

    Gentle car gross sales have been at 15.60 million SAAR in January, down from 16.87 million in November, and up 3.8% from 15.03 million in January 2024.
