Median CPI elevated 0.3% and Trimmed-mean CPI elevated 0.3% in October

The Cleveland Fed launched the median CPI and the trimmed-mean CPI.

In response to the Federal Reserve Financial institution of Cleveland, the median Shopper Worth Index rose 0.3% in October. The 16% trimmed-mean Shopper Worth Index elevated 0.3%. “The median CPI and 16% trimmed-mean CPI are measures of core inflation calculated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland based on data released in the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) monthly CPI report”.

This graph exhibits the year-over-year change for these 4 key measures of inflation. 

On a year-over-year foundation, the median CPI rose 4.1% (unchanged from 4.1% in September), the trimmed-mean CPI rose 3.2% (unchanged from 3.2%), and the CPI much less meals and vitality rose 3.2% (unchanged from 3.2%). 

Core PCE is for September was up 2.7% YoY, unchanged from 2.7% in August.
